It's true. Free anti-viruses really have low protection. ClamWin has obsolete definitions and cannot really protect your pc. Nor can Avast! or AVG. But tough antiviruses like Kaspersky are very good. A very good FREE AV is AOL. It includes a free McAfee Virus Scan Plus copy, for registered users. A good antispyware is Windows Defender, but many many people don't think it. They go for other ones, which may create conflicts with anti viruses and slow down computer. Also personal firewalls are not advised if you have a powerful anti Virus (which may include hacker protection). By the way, the best security product is a SEcurity Suite. Best are Kaspersky, ESET and McAfee

Not true. Clamwin is a very good antivirus and it is free. By the way Clamwin founds stuff that all of my pay AV can't find. Also Clamwin don't hog your computer's resource. My computer comes to a halt or in a frozen state when my McAfee run.

Why clamwin is free and is better than the rest? It's open source. Open source always emphasize on faster release in their patching. Also there are thousands of bright minds spread across and all over the world working on the same open source project. Why some peoples need not to pay for such free software like open source clamwin? The open source devolopers need not your money because they all develop such projects for their own uses. How can they half ass create a software if they going to use it right?

Also I know most of the open source developers only spend their free or fun time doing such projects, and that's what I consider as a hobby. Yes, hobby brings joy, and so joy brings great result. There is no stress in working on a project as a hobby eh?

So I say a free software that release by the unknown party is very dangerous. If it's a free open source software where there are thousands of participants participate to improve the software, then you can be assure that the software is free of trouble. You can usually check on to see if the software you looking at is open source or not. Just google it, and then check the software's community forum, and also check the review about the software on other sites.

Great free open source antivirus definitely is ClamWin, but if you are using linux it is called as ClamAV. Another great free open source office suite is OpenOffice. Free photoshop is Gimp. Free ftp is Filezilla.

Did you know that you have an 80% chance of being infected with multiple pieces of malicious code?

Did you also know that free anti spyware programs lend a significant hand in the spreading of these malignant Trojans, Worms and Spyware?
